First Test with new Banks Power

Today, Thursday June 20, was the first day the Freightliner Pikes Peak Special left the building. Other than two weeks on the road, going to the Mid-America Truck Show in Mid-March, the racer has been in the Gale Banks Racing and Engineering special projects shop since early February. In that time, the truck has seen the biggest group of improvements and modifications since it was originally built.

Banks Engineering designed, fabricated and installed their Super-Turbo system, Custom equal length stainless steel headers, Banks Straight-Shot Water Methanol Direct Port Injection as well as Blower temp control. Banks Straight-Shot Auto-Chiller, Banks Ram-Air 3,000CFM Air Filtration System, Banks Straight-Shot Brake Cooling System all with Banks AutoMind controllers.

Additionally, Randy Simmons our Crew Chief & Eric Matuchek-Febricator-Mechanic and Welder extraordinaire installed new Custom Howe Trophy Truck Steering System, cyrogenically treated Meritor brake rotors and Powerbrake Service air over hydraulic brake control.

Tomorrow, we are back at Irwindale Speedway tuning and chasing away bugs and if all goes as planned, we head to Colorado Saturday morning.
